Mifflinburg is a charming 19th century Pennsylvania town located in Union County in central Pennsylvania. With gently rolling hills, hundreds of acres of farmland and an historic downtown, Mifflinburg is a tightly knit community that is proud of its strong heritage.
Mifflinburg honors that German heritage by hosting an annual Oktoberbest during the first weekend in October. This great family event includes hay rides, marionette shows, German bands and dancers, a polka band, and games for all. The celebration features traditional Oktoberfest foods and beverages. And, of course, you can sample over eight different kinds of German beer and locally made German style wines.
A highlight of the year is the annual Christkindl Market, an authentic outdoor German Christmas market held for three days in December on Mifflinburg’s main street. Market Street is lined with pine covered wooden huts, each containing arts, crafts or Christkindl treats. There is continuous entertainment and delicious food, including a traditional German sit down dinner. This festive event is prepared every year by the churches, organizations, schools and residents of the Mifflinburg community.
During the summer, enjoy the annual Blueberries and Bluegrass Festival. Tap your toes to some fine Bluegrass music while you enjoy delicious blueberry treats. Festival fare includes blueberry pies, ice cream, sundaes, world famous blueberry whoopee pies, and boxed fresh pickled blueberries. The festival is held during the third week of July at the Mifflinburg Community Park.
Mifflinburg is home to the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The museum is the located at the site of the original buggy factory, one of only twelve craft/industrial museums in the United States that preserves and interprets an original site.
