Closets And Built-Ins

If you were to follow homebuyers on their home inspection tours, you would understand the high priority they place on closets and other storage space. A walk-in closet often elicits the same delighted reaction that a granite countertop does. With this in mind, sellers may want to reprioritize their home improvement lists. In rooms with plenty of floor space, adding a closet is a relatively inexpensive improvement. In rooms that already have closets, it can pay big dividends to remove the standard hanging rods and replace them with two-tiered rods and increased shelving. If necessary, hire a professional to make the improvements. Along the same lines, most people love built-ins in dens, living rooms, and dining rooms.

HINT: Home improvement centers provide closet systems that nearly all do-it-yourselfers can install in a single weekend.
