Celebration of the Arts

One of the joys of living in this small-town community is that many of the downtowns come together throughout the year for festivals of all kinds. Soon, downtown Lewisburg will be host to the Celebration of the Arts, which is anchored by two main events: the Arts Festival on Saturday, April 26 and Lewisburg Live on Saturday, May 10. The Celebration is planned by the Lewisburg Arts Council, an all-volunteer group.

The Arts Festival takes place on Saturday, April 26th primarily on Market Street but also in Hufnagle and Soldier Parks. Art, entertainment, and food encourage locals and visitors to interact with talented local artists, all of whom are selected by a juried process. Art varies from jewelry to pottery, oil and pastel prints, woodworking, metal sculpture, photography, and so much more. Entertainment is provided throughout the day at various locations and best of all – it’s all free! Food is primarily located in Hufnagle Park and in the M&T parking lot. Patrons can find all kinds of festival food, as well as items that can be taken home.

The 2014 Featured Artist is John C. Sterling. John is a different kind of furniture maker. He believes furniture should be a beautiful work of art that connects you to nature and to the future generations that will inherit your investment. Most of the wood he uses is harvested from sustainably managed Pennsylvania State forests.

The complete Arts Festival schedule is posted here: http://www.lewisburgartscouncil.com/events/art-festival/market-street-festival/

Please note: visitors to the Festival will not be able to park on Market Street (Route 45). Please look for parking signs along Route 15.

Lewisburg Live! takes place on Saturday, May 10th and again takes place throughout the downtown. Eight to ten bands of varying styles play in different venues throughout the downtown, all it’s all free and open to the public. Bands begin at 6 pm and runs until after midnight. This year, the following performers will entertain: KJ Reimensnyder-Wagner, Lawson & DeCristopher, Hannah Bingman and Doug McMinn, Good Vibe Quartet, Royal Benson, Blind Chitlin Kahunas, and Ann Kerstetter.
